The beginning of JC Coimbra dates back to 1946 when its founder José Carvalho Coimbra began his operations in Olive Oil distribution. Our spirit of ambition, humility, hard work and innovation has allowed us throughout the years to improve and develop additional capacities in order to respond to the increasing market requirements, which can be volatile and diffuse.

Currently JC Coimbra Group is one of the main companies in the Portuguese Olive Oil sector. We are specialized in supplying Olive Oils and Vegetable Oils to both the consumer market and the manufacturing industry. JC Coimbra holds its own brands but it also develops its clients’ brands (Private Label) all over the world.

We believe that the knowledge acquired over the course of six decades combined with strong commitment and competence has allowed us to meet not only the market demands but also the increasingly sophisticated consumer.

We are committed to a sustainable growth as well as we adopt a dynamic and proactive stance in the search for the excellence at both national and international level. We are present in external markets where we excel in productive and qualitative competitiveness.

The beginning of JC Coimbra dates back to 1946 when its founder José Carvalho Coimbra began his operations in Olive Oil distribution. José Carvalho Coimbra established the company “Ferreira Correia & Coimbra, Lda” with a partner, pursuing the Olive Oil distribution.

1951

1961

“José Carvalho Coimbra” is created as an individual Company.
José Carvalho Coimbra is a founding-partner of “Marialva – Soc. Industrial e Armazenista de Azeites, Lda”, where he begins his activity in bottling and refining. He leaves the Company in 1973.

1965

1973

He begins his activity in bottling and refining individually in its production site in Estarreja.
New premises (Avanca) and creation of the current company “José Carvalho Coimbra & Companhia, Lda”. Production unit which comprises bottling, refining and storage.

1980

1987

Acquisition of the participation in Aucama – Complexo Agro Industrial Valpacense, Lda. Production unit which comprises mill and pomace oil extraction.
Business constitution of Fexol-Fábrica de Extracção de óleos de Montemor, Lda. – an extraction unit.

1989

1991

Acquisition of the extraction unit in Coimbra.
Acquisition of the industrial unit in Folgosa do Douro (Armamar), which comprises mill and extraction.

1994

1995

In July 1995, the company goes from limited to joint-stock company – “J.C.Coimbra, SA”
Acquisition of the industrial unit in Folgosa do Douro (Armamar), which comprises mill and extraction.

2003

2004

Acquisition of the participation in Sonaz, Comércio e Industria de Azeites, Lda. Bottling unit of Olive Oil and Vegetable Oils.
